Orange, firm and round,
Your skin yields not to my discerning touch.
By this I know,
Oh I know, you are a good fruit to eat.

If I slide my thumb in just so,
With a deft spiral twist
I can peel you all in one go.

You are best enjoyed
In the sunshine with a friend,
Your textured rind
Offset by lush summer green.
